The Matrioshka Cabinet design is a system of wooden storage units that nest inside one another designed by Sasa Mitrovic of TwentyTree and manufactured by S.C.S. plus & Ergomade.
Like Russian matrioshka nesting dolls, the largest item holds all the smaller cabinets, which each holds each other and you just don’t know when it’s going to end.
There are six pieces in all that happily nest together inside the large orange armoire. You can pull out the ones you need or use them all.
When closed, the partitions and legs disappear under the base of the unit. Matrioshka, like the Russian doll it is named after, started off as a game, but it is a subtle one that makes you think about the mystery concealed behind the exterior appearance. It is an object that contains objects and, concurrently, protects our identity.
The design subtly “makes you think about the mystery concealed behind the exterior appearance. It is an object that contains objects and, concurrently, protects our identity,” according to the designer.
