Homo Faberis a one of a kind event that is set to take place in Venice from 14 to 30 of September at Fondazione Giorgio Cini. Organized by the Swiss-based entity Michelangelo Foundation, and using the motto “Crafting a more human future“, it is an exclusive event that celebrates European Craftsmanship. Today, Buffets and Cabinets will take you on a journey to find out more about this exquisite and imperative event.
This unique exhibition will put fine craftsmanship in the international design spectrum and give recognition to master artisans. It will include a wide variety of arts and disciplines, from jewelry to bespoke designs as well as showcasing the rarest artisanal techniques. Homo Faber will be the place where the arts and crafts that are around us in the design and fashion worlds meet. In an immersive experience, you will be able to touch, see and have a small taste of what this world has to offer.
This event will take place in a number of historical and architectural spaces throughout the Fondazione Giorgio Cini (an international cultural center in the island of San Giorgio Maggiore).
These unique spaces will be adorned with the most exquisite pieces, innovative installations, as well as live showcases of artisans working on their respective arts. It will be the largest event ever held in the Fondazione, offering its visitors an amazing experience through European Craftsmanship.
Homo Faber will involve a stellar combination of world-class designers, creators and architects. Imagination and energy will be two of the biggest pillars of the exhibition.
Portugal will be one of the featured countries in the world. Boca do Lobo is the brand which will be representing the country’s legacy with two highly curated pieces displaying two of the most stunning and ancient arts of Portuguese craftsmanship: Azulejos and the Art of Filigree.
The first one regards the Heritage sideboard, an exclusive piece lined with hand-painted tiles.
The second is the astonishing Filigree Mirror, which is completely handcrafted, with each brass cord fitted with the highest precision. This piece flourishes in a traditional shape to Portuguese culture and art.
Both pieces, from the Limited Collection by Boca do Lobo, will be displayed at the space Best of European Craftsmanship, in Sala degli Arazzi, where visitors will be able to wander through exquisite objects specifically sourced for the event and see the skill of master artisans in real time and at close quarters and even talk to them.
