Fernando Mastrangelo is a Brooklyn-based artist and top product designer who is best recognized for his Collectible Design, as well as his large-scale sculptures and experiential installations. He received his BFA in Sculpture from Cornish College of the Arts in 2002 and finished his MFA in Sculpture in 2004 at Virginia Commonwealth University. After graduation, he worked for Matthew Barney before launching his own design studio, Fernando Mastrangelo Studio in 2006. All of his artworks are sculpted by hand from natural or repurposed materials such as sand, salt, silica, and crushed or powdered glass. The top product designer’s passionate concern with ecological issues continues to influence his growing design language.

As a grand mixture of form, content, and materials, Fernando Mastrangelo’s work produces a universe in which landscapes, textures, and the human condition are layered and interconnected. Stunning and multifaceted, the cast sculptural objects entwine modern art and contemporary design.



The artist has worked in numerous private collections worldwide, as well as works residing in the permanent collections of the Brooklyn Museum and the Cooper Hewitt Museum. His works have been displayed in both national and international exhibitions and furniture fairs: Art Basel, Collective Design Fair, Sight Unseen Offsite, Salone del Mobile in Milan, Art Genève, Mendes Wood Gallery, and Rossana Orlandi’s Gallery in Milan.
