University of Kansas
With the purpose to create a campus-wide culture of entrepreneurship, Gensler project was designed to catalyze connections. Serving as a connector between the building’s major program elements, a four-story atrium can be found housing a variety of informal gathering spaces. Making the school a venue for entrepreneurial innovation, every feature is designed to prompt interactions.
American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog
Created to support the museum’s extensive collection of canine-related art and artifacts, the architectural design represents the relationship between humans and dogs. Making each visit to the museum feel unique, Gensler filled the rooms with rotating black steel art display walls that help create infinite layouts. Encouraging visitors to interact with kiosks and communal table surfaces, digital touchpoints are integrated throughout.
A physical manifestation of the brand’s culture, this Gensler project provides a one-of-a-kind interactive experience to redefine and leverage the iconic luxury brand. Serving as a successful platform for the brand globally, Cadillac House SoHo is targeted at New York’s young tastemakers.
Where tech startup entrepreneurs can work, 1871 is a co-working space, incubator, and business accelerator. Fulfilling the need that space and infrastructure be adaptable to support a wide variety of possible uses and be customizable by users as businesses grow and change, Gensler created a property that provides a growing network of more than 400 entrepreneurs with offices, classrooms, meeting areas, and social space.
Needing a new space that was functional and represented the company’s culture, Gensler created a smart space plan where the ethos of equality and opportunity is reflected. The team had to convert a multi-tenant, generic office building into a single-user headquarters that is the opposite of generic, empowering employees with a choice of workstyle.
Stitching together the surrounding neighborhoods, this mixed-use community created by Gensler, brings together the best of retail, office, and residential functions. With a range of activities for occupants provided by communal spaces, the ground-floor retail benefits from heavy pedestrian foot traffic, while easy access to main streets. High-end, sophisticated residential units appeal to young professionals.
In order to develop a prototype for its new stores in Shanghai and Seoul, 8Seconds has partnered with Gensler. With the purpose of targeting the Chinese mass market by inviting customers to experience a Korean aesthetic and way of life, this project is simple yet bold.
Representing the young company’s ethos of openness, collaboration, and constant enterprise, the office was designed by Gensler with an open-plan space, giving employees continual freedom to choose where and how to work. Inspired by a different noteworthy Airbnb listing, each room is distinct and complies with the company’s mantra: “Travel like a human”.
Allergan: Experience Design
In order to realize a holistic brand program at its new administrative headquarters, Allergan has challenged Gensler to develop a program immersing employees and guests in an experiential, visual narrative of the company’s culture, mission, and people. With eight 13-foot-high digital screens displaying dynamic visuals, the entrance reflects Allergan’s culture and services. Painted typographic murals can be found embellish the walls of social hubs.
Created to modernize and improve brick-and-mortar retail for both product makers and customers, b8ta is a software-powered retail store. Focusing on product discovery and interaction, Gensler project represents the mission to make retail accessible for all. The stores were designed to allow customers to have hands-on access to all products, many of which have never been featured in a physical retail space.
