The Antique Dealer and Interior Consultant do not identify himself as an interior decorator, since he does not see this as its purpose and role. It is in finding furniture, rugs, lighting, fabrics, and objects that have a historical flair.

In the transformation of his own showroom, in Dorset, U.K, Edward has been equally sensitive and imaginative.

In Edward Hurst‘s showroom in Dorset, a couple of smaller rooms lead through to the largest space, where you can look through the joists of the floor above up to the exposed beams of the ceiling.  His office is a minimalist space with a four-meter-long kitchen table as a desk. The brick walls have been left as found, the layers of weathered paint create warmth and patina.

“The double-height room requires pieces with strength; it suits the baroque rather than the neoclassical.”

On the upper floor is a room that Edward Hurst describes as “very new territory”, with reclaimed pine boards used as panelling.
