Hubert Le Gall‘s work is a bold combination of sophisticated and playful. Inspired by the likes of Salvador Dali, Jean Cocteau, the Surrealists, and Max Ernst, Le Gall introduces humor and beauty into everyday life.
Self-taught as an artist and sculptor before delving into a design, uses classic materials to create pieces that inspire laughter and enchantment, while being meticulously crafted. A fixed star on the international art furniture design scene, he exhibits and sells his work globally. Hubert Le Gall‘s work is a world between art and design, filled with animals, flowers and of his own world and fantasy.
“My dream was to be an architect, but I was expected to be a lawyer. I was 25 when I realized I wasn’t living my life and I had to find out what I wanted to do.”
As a designer, Hubert Le Gall is self-taught and has been learning along the way. Indeed, he is hesitant even to give himself the label of a designer: “I am just creating because of my desire to create,” he says about his contemporary art.
His main vision is that all of his art furniture is about sculpture and that art is supposed to be functional and has to tell a story. Always! Hubert Le Gall‘s isn’t certain about his future projects but of one thing you can tell that he is sure – the will of constant creation of handmade art that utterly surpasses all the expectations about the contemporary artist.
